Senior Software Engineer / Tech Lead (AI tools/.NET/C#/React)
Job Description
Trigyn is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who also serves as a Tech Lead to guide AI-assisted development and modernization of public-facing applications built on .NET, C#, and React. Based in New York, NY with a hybrid work setup, this 4-6 month contract role focuses on steering cross-functional teams, shaping architecture, and delivering across web and mobile platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead one or more cross-disciplinary engineering teams, guiding architecture choices, establishing coding standards, and driving successful delivery outcomes.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
- Direct system design reviews, define technical norms, and promote best practices across the group.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager to prioritize the roadmap, plan resources, and assess technical risks.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert and escalation point for complex engineering challenges across the portfolio.
- Design, develop, and maintain features across .NET/C#, Java, and React for web and mobile contexts.
- Drive modernization of legacy systems by refactoring aging code, boosting performance, and introducing contemporary patterns (REST APIs, microservices, component-based front ends) with AI-assisted workflows.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with internal data systems, third-party services, and city agency platforms.
- Ensure security, WCAG accessibility, and compliance standards appropriate for a public-sector environment.
- Contribute to mobile development efforts for iOS and Android.
- Champion AI-assisted development tools to increase team velocity and shorten debt remediation timelines (for example, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar).
- Develop and refine internal AI-augmented workflows for code generation, automated testing, documentation, and legacy code analysis.
- Evaluate and implement large language model–based capabilities where appropriate (e.g., intelligent search, automated summarization, chatbot interfaces for resident-facing features).
- Stay current on AI/ML tooling trends and serve as an internal resource for responsible and effective AI usage in software development.
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, design discussions, and direct feedback.
- Foster a collaborative team culture that values craft, continuous learning, and inclusive problem-solving.
