Job Description

NN, Inc. seeks a certified Journeyman Tool Maker in Algonquin, IL (onsite) to develop, fabricate, and assemble progressive stamping dies from specifications to production readiness, with compensation in the range of USD 32 - 46 per hour.

Responsibilities

Review blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine required materials and fabrication methods.
Verify finished parts meet specifications using precision measuring instruments.
Fit and assemble components into complete assemblies using fixtures, surface plates, hand tools, and power tools.
Check dimensions and alignment of assemblies with micrometers, height gauges, sine bars, and gauge blocks.
Collaborate with engineers, tool and die makers, production and quality personnel to resolve die development and part problems.
Receive instructions and communicate activities with coworkers and managers.
Lift machined parts manually or with a hoist, and position and secure on a surface plate or worktable using vises, angle plates, and V-blocks.
Examine new dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures and recommend design modifications for construction and function.
Connect wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components on a die.
Fabricate components and assemble new tooling.
Assist in establishing production readiness, including periphery equipment selection, press setup, and part handling.
Communicate with all levels of the organization to ensure timely, cost-effective outcomes.

Requirements

Certification as a Journeyman Tool Maker
Completion of a formal apprenticeship
Minimum of 5 years of trade school, vocational education, work experience, and completion of a formal apprenticeship
